Annie - November 2018

Details

In the depths of 1930's New York, the Great Depression and background of extremes of poverty and wealth, Annie is an endearingly optimistic young orphan girl who must live along with other orphans in a miserable New York City Municipal Orphanage, Girls’ Annexe run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when Annie is selected in the run-up to Christmas to spend a short time at the luxurious residence of the wealthy industrialist, Oliver Warbucks. Quickly, she charms the hearts of the household staff and even the seemingly cold-hearted Warbucks cannot help but learn to love this wonderful girl. He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by using his high-up connections and by offering a reward if they will come to him and prove their identity. However, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and his female accomplice Lily, plan to impersonate Annie’s real parents to claim the reward for themselves, which puts little Annie in great danger. But of course optimism will win the day over despair and depression, after all… THE SUN’LL COME OUT TOMORROW!!
