Murder in Play - November 2022
Putting the Drama back into IODS - Our first play in 50 years!
Director Boris Smolensky's budget repertory production of "Murder at Priorswell Manor" is looking decidedly shaky and that’s just the scenery. The cast are more interested in their egos than the play and life imitates art when Boris's wife, Renee (the has been actress acting way below her age), is murdered on stage. Boris has his eyes on the young ingenue of a leading lady whilst all the characters you’d expect, from the has been actor who acted with Larry and wants everyone to know, to the perpetual understudy are there. Simon Brett's hilarious text, a worthy companion to his Charles Paris theatrical thriller novels, ruthlessly satirizes the politics of the inept company and the numerous red herrings keep the audience guessing until the final moments of the play.
